What To Expect

Over eight weekly sessions led by our educators and mentors, we will work together to build confidence and independence in social activities. Each session is based around planning, booking, and attending social events. Most importantly, we focus on having fun and getting home safely.

The Catch-Ups

  • Instruction in the essential steps required to coordinate a social outing with others
  • This also covers planning, inviting, booking, confirming, travelling, meeting, participating, and getting home safely
  • Opportunities are provided to rehearse each step as learning and confidence develop

Workshop Details

  • Eight weekly sessions on a Friday from 4.45pm to 9.15pm
  • Participants are assessed against clear learning intentions, with progress marked “working toward” or “achieved,” resulting in an individualised Statement of Attainment
  • Attainment delivered by one of our educators
  • After the structured learning of the evening, participants will travel either in an Uber, a vehicle with a support worker, or on the Lightbulb bus to the agreed dinner destination, and then on to the chosen activity of the evening
  • Each participant will pay for their own meals to practise money management and responsibility for their own food
  • Participants will need to be collected from a predetermined location at an agreed time, or from the original location at 9.15pm each evening
  • Workshop materials and shared activities are included in the cost.
